About Me

When people learn about the work I do, many confess that struggles in school kept them back. Sadly, they didn’t have the right support at a critical time.

An effective teacher can change the course of a child’s life.

My success helping students rests on my training, years of experience, and ongoing learning. I hold a California Elementary Teaching Credential and a California Specialist Credential in Reading and Language Arts. I graduated from Pomona College with honors in Psychology, obtained a masters degree in curriculum and teaching from the Claremont Graduate University, and a PhD from the School of Education at Stanford University.

In addition to teaching in the classroom and serving as an on-site reading specialist, I also provided targeted intervention for ten years in the public schools to students who were critically below grade level. For the past seven years, I have been providing one-on-one intervention to students privately.

I use a tool box acquired over time to motivate students, assess their skills, and plan instruction. My understanding of the continuum of knowledge from grade-to-grade allows me to determine if students are making appropriate progress. To keep my skills sharp, I stay up on the best practices and research in the field of education.

And, perhaps, most importantly, I love what I do. I can’t imagine a greater legacy than the work I have been privileged to do with children.
